Tofty is a story of misadventure.
One man's journey to make things that seemed like a good idea at the time.
More often than not they didn't come to anything, but occasionally the results have merit.

This site is a collection of my hobby projects (and some professional work) from the last 20 or so years.
I've flittered from hobby to hobby, slowing building up practical skills and hopefully improving my design abilities.

I have a Mechanical Engineering background and learned CAD at Uni. My early work was almost purely 3D design until I got a lathe and milling machine; allowing me to start creating more complex physical items.
In 2012 I discovered Shapeways; a 3D printing service with an community online shop component attached. I used their service to prototype and sell Everyday Carry style tools, then pivoted into also selling jewellery and finally plastic refill adapters for pens. This all came to an end when Shapeways declared bankruptcy in 2024.
I've migrated some of these old model files over to Thingiverse and Cults3D, so at least people can get them printed via some of the remaining services, but there are still many dozens of files that I haven't uploaded yet, mostly jewellery, so please let me know if there's a piece you see on this site that you would like to be made available.

Also please feel free to get in touch with any other queries you may have.

I've done a number of commissions and collaborations in the past and will always seriously consider any requests or offers.

Cheers,
Tofty
